Belly of the Beast
03:05
|
|||
Over-policed.
I'm in the belly of the beast.
I'm in the teeth of the river.
Gonna drink away my liver
while I'm sucking on the teats.
We're in a big, bright house with plenty of glass. It's safe and it's clean, and it's kicking my ass. I'll tell you what- I've got a lot of nerve. To make it big in this town you gotta swim with the turds.
Over-policed.
I'm in the belly of the beast.
I'm in a portal going nowhere.
Always working, and I don't care
if I float or if I sink.
Where people don't like to leave and hardly anyone visits. It's a nice little town. Nobody's moving around. So, thank god we've made a perfect place for our children; they'll grow up just like you if the water don't kill them.
Over-policed.
I'm in the belly of the beast.
I am hung up in the tension
of the moments we don't mention
while we're falling on our knees.
I've seen you.
I've seen you.
Seen you living in your house-
all the lights are out-
and the walls are glowing blue.
I hear you,
wish I could cure you.
You're bored and running out
of things to sigh about.
Letting them tell you what to do.
Over-policed.
I'm in the belly of the beast.
I am swirling in the vortex;
always wishing I had more sex
while I'm choking on the beef.

Most of the Time
04:01
|
|||
Most of the time I'm most of myself.
And then there are times I'm playin' somethin' else.
Most of the time I'm doing fine on my own
But just this time could someone carry me home?
Ghost set a time, I wonder...
Does he remember how it feels
to have bones that only get you so far?
Ghost set a time, I wonder...
Does he remember how to scream
with a voice that only carries so far?
Half of the day is half of my night
And maybe today I'll do half what I might.
Half the day spent digging trash on loan.
Please today could someone carry me home?
Most of the time I wander,
looking for the next few years of my life.
A ghost all the time I wander,
looking for the past two years of my life,
looking for the next few years of my life,
looking for just one good year of my life.

Swim With Me
02:46
|
|||
Swim with me, swim with me
And if my arms stop your legs stop
And we'll both be none, we will both be none
Better to be none, better to be none
Than lost without our loves, than lost without our loves
Salted cakes, salted cakes
For the rivermaid to eat
She'll never go hungry in a bottomless sea
She'll never go hungry in a bottomless sea
Show your fins, show your fins
The boys waited wearily
But the watermaid sat down below
She'd whimper and plead
There is nothing to see, there is nothing to see
Cupping her greed, she'd eat her cakes
Salted cakes, salted cakes
For the rivermaid to eat
She'll never go hungry in a bottomless sea
Swim with me, swim with me
And if my arms stop your legs stop
And we'll both be none, we will both be none
Better to be none, better to be none
Than lost without our loves, than lost without our loves
Than lost without our loves, than lost without our loves

Trees
04:06
|
|||
Trees with no mosses
shoes with no laces
Jobs with no bosses
friends with no faces
There’s glass that needs cleaning
and jokes with no meaning
It all ends up looking so grim.
On old roads, they get you back
On old roads, they get you back
On old roads, they get you back
Just the same, just the same, just the same.
Threads left uncounted,
shots with no frames
Big boys not mounted
and dogs with no names
Drinks we’re not drinking,
these ships just aren’t sinking
No matter how hard that we grin
On old roads, they get you back
On old roads, they get you back
On old roads, they get you back
Just the same, just the same, just the same.
Just the same with no doing
the road with no paving
My teeth with no chewing
my soul with no saving

Happy Place
04:39
|
|||
It’s a long way there
a long way from here.
There are dragons and monsters and
magical creatures.
We live here-
in a box inside another box,
but the animals are playing
and the sun is setting.
There’s giant trees
with leaves larger than your face,
where tree frogs give you smiles
make you laugh for a while.
Mermaids live
in a sea we’ll pass along the way.
I spoke to them and they are
calling your name.
Come and see my happy place.
I'd like you to see my happy place.
Last time I
traveled there by myself.
I saw a fern made
perfectly of glass from the sea.
But this time, come.
We’ll take my secret passageway.
Did you ever think you’d travel
through stars in the sky?
Did you ever think you'd fly
on wings made from beans you re-fried?
Before you close your eyes,
remember you might fall.
Down down down
down down down
to the green below.
Where the animals and plants
who are waiting to say hello.
See the taxi drivers?
They’ll take you wherever you like
in a special turquoise chair
for the person with a heart full of gold.
I love you.
Did you ever think you’d love me, too?
Enough to come and see a place made by
me, made by you.
Come and see my happy place.
I'd like you to see my happy place.

Say
02:36
|
|||
Say that the wheel turns
Say that the wheel turns
Say that you've seen her here
Say that the wheel turns
Say that you've seen her
Say that she wanders on
Say that you've seen her
bare feet crack the earth
on my land... o-oh
You are one
to say that you've seen her
bare breasts, slack and dearth,
run dry on my lips
Say, say, say, you
talk, talk, talk, but
words don't stop the
walk, turn, walk, walk
Say, say, say, stop!
talk, talk, talk, stop!
one two one two
stop, turn, walk, walk
Say that the wheel turns
Say that you've seen her
Say that she's turned her back
Say that the wheel turns
Say that the world burns
Say that you blame her still
Say that the wheel turns
clockwork circling hands
round my face... o-oh
and you stop
to say that the wheel turns
tight rope wrapped in bands
about my hips...

Natural Causes
06:08
|
|||
i want to die of natural causes
no note left behind me
eyes wide open when they find me
fully dressed, underestimated
i've no good to leave behind
only debt, pencil scratchings
take whatever you're attached to
i won't need it where i'm going
may my body dissolve properly
these hands, once made for labor,
may they fertilize a pea-vine
grasping forever skyward
this brain once hummed with pulses
may it feed something fungal
or sink into the mantel
uploaded with the network
may my heart's course be more tragic:
it's particles, may they wash up
on one shore, then the next
'til it's searched the world over
through a trillion seasons seeking
when the world has finally crumbled,
may my heart set its course
for a distant constellation
in this way, ad infinitum
until the universe collapses
in this way, ad infinitum
until a universe is born
in the last days may my heart be there
as the universe is dying
in the first days may my heart be there
as a universe is born
in this way ad infinitum
through a trillion universes
i want to die of natural causes
eyes wide open when they find me
fully dressed, underestimated
staring through the ceiling
